Boycotting Opening Can of China's Worms

All of this controversy on whether the United States should boycott the Olympic Opening Ceremony has me perplexed. The question should not be on whether to boycott the opening ceremonies, but rather to boycott China’s economy as a whole. 1. China has a lethal track record on human rights abuse towards Tibet and its own citizens; 2. it’s business entities and alliances are distributing highly toxic and inferior products damaging our homes and health; and 3. China’s rapid industrialization is exponentially adding to the causes of global climate change. Nonetheless, over the last few decades, the United States has designated China with most favored trade status. Meanwhile, the US economy is crumbling fast, human rights abuse are lingering on, and global climate change is more likely becoming catastrophic. The answer therefore is not to just a boycott China for one day, but for America to divest from China and boycott all companies who do business with China until human rights are followed, distributed products are safe and non-toxic, and a path of environmental responsibility is followed; however that would call for the U.S to do the same.
